Steven R. Yee is the firm’s founding and managing partner.

Mr. Yee has extensive trial and litigation experience in employment practices liability, professional liability, legal malpractice, personal injury, insurance coverage, products liability, premises liability, construction, public entity, and business litigation actions. He has represented numerous companies and individuals in actions involving sexual harassment, wage, retaliation, and age, race, disability, sexual orientation, religion, and gender discrimination claims before the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the State of California Labor Commissioner, the Department of Fair Employment and Housing, the Superior Courts in California, and the United States District Court for the Central District of California. Mr. Yee has served as employment counsel for such companies as McDonald’s, Hilton Hotels Corporation, Kinecta Federal Credit Union, Roncelli Plastics Inc., Lemonade Restaurant Group, LLC, Crustacean Restaurant, First Financial Credit Union, and several law firms. Mr. Yee has also represented over 400 law firms and lawyers in legal malpractice, employment practices liability, malicious prosecution, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, and breach of contract/fee dispute actions.

Mr. Yee was selected as a Southern California Super Lawyer in 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, and 2010. Mr. Yee was named as a 2020 Top Attorney in Southern California by Los Angeles Magazine. In surveys of thousands of lawyers conducted by Pasadena Magazine in 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, and 2009, Mr. Yee was voted one of the Top Attorneys.

Mr. Yee’s article regarding the California Anti-Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (“SLAPP”) statute and malicious prosecution was featured on the cover of the December 2002 issue of Los Angeles Lawyer. Mr. Yee’s article regarding malicious prosecution actions was also featured in the American Bar Association’s April 2003 Lawyers Professional Liability Advisory. Mr. Yee was selected as the keynote speaker for the American Bar Association National Legal Malpractice Conference in April 2002, the American Bar Association’s National Institute on Mediation in December 2002, and the American Bar Association National Legal Malpractice Conference in April 2004. Mr. Yee also presented to the American Bar Association Standing Committee on Lawyers’ Professional Liability regarding the best practices for a defense lawyer.

Mr. Yee has also conducted sexual harassment/management/sensitivity training seminars for numerous companies, financial institutions, law firms, and the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in compliance with California Government Code §12950.1(a). Mr. Yee has conducted MCLE-accredited seminars regarding employment practices, professional liability, sexual harassment, settlement negotiations, trial work, legal malpractice, legal ethics, discovery, insurance coverage litigation, malicious prosecution, and the SLAPP statute for the American Bar Association, insurance companies, the Pasadena Bar Association, the San Fernando Valley Bar Association, the Glendale Bar Association, the Marina Culver Bar Association, and the San Gabriel Valley Bar Association.

Mr. Yee has also been designated and has testified as an expert witness in professional liability actions. Mr. Yee has been appointed by the Los Angeles Superior Court as a mandatory settlement conference officer and mediator. Mr. Yee implemented and managed the Pasadena Bar Association’s mandatory settlement conference program with the Los Angeles Superior Court in Pasadena. He has also been retained by insurance companies to conduct risk management seminars for law firms and to audit attorney billing statements.

Mr. Yee is admitted to practice before all California State Courts, the United States District Court for Central and Northern Districts of California, and the United States Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. He also earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees, cum laude, from the University of California at Irvine.

Mr. Yee served as the President of the Pasadena Bar Association in 2011. He previously also served as the Pasadena Bar Association’s President Elect, Vice-President, Litigation Section Chair, and Board Trustee. Mr. Yee was the founder of the Pasadena Bar Association’s Speech Scholarship Contest which provided tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships to high school students.

Mr. Yee previously served on the Board of Directors for the Fire Family Foundation.
